The Year: 2010. The populace of the United States are in an uprising not seen since the 1960's. Not too surprising since most of the "Tea Party" activists are Baby Boomers who also revolted in the 1960's. The only difference is time has changed our perspective and values. Now, instead of Free Love, we seek immigration and tax reform. While we do have representation, our taxes are excessive.
The massive entitlement programs and wasteful spending of the last century have crippled us as a nation. Our national debt is outrageous and WE, as AMERICANS are LIVID about it. If you haven't been to a Tea Party event, I urge you to go to one if for no other reason, than to feel the anger permeating from Average Americans. We want our country back and we want it now.
Now, just who is to blame? Large multinational corporations, greedy banks, dishonest stock and future traders, politicians, and corruption? I submit that all of these are indeed factors resulting in the mess our country is in today. However, I an "Average Joe", place the blame squarely upon the shoulders of the populace. YES, Americans are to blame. If you have not kept up on what is going on in congress, what bills are being submitted and how YOUR elected representatives stand on the issues, you are to blame. If YOU do not even know your congressional and state representatives, you are to blame. If you do not get involved in your child's education and know your local school board, you are to blame. If you do not vote. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY TO BLAME. There is no reason for not voting. I have heard that sorry excuse that: "My Vote Doesn't Count" too many times, yet elections decided by a handful of votes are common in every state.
We, as Americans have the God given right to vote. To exercise control over those who represent us and WE have done a lousy job of self government. Get with it folks. Take our country back by being involved in the political process.
And that's what Average Joe thinks.
